About
The Outreach Committee was formed to improve communication within AWA, as well as to grow AWA's membership and widen the visibility of archaeology in Washington.
Currently, the Outreach Committee is working on several projects:
If this sounds interesting to you, please consider joining the Outreach Committee! As an Outreach volunteer, you will have opportunities to connect with other archaeologists in new ways while visiting schools, attending roadshows, and doing other outreach with the general public. We expect this volunteer work to be rewarding and also a great way to grow your network.
Much of this needed leg-work can be done remotely and virtually on your own time with opportunities to meet with AWA Board members and attend events in person if you so choose.
Currently, the Outreach Committee is working on several projects:
- Creation of a pamphlet detailing the association
- Coordinating speakers and events within and between regional area social groups
- Organizing Archaeology Day events around the state
- Identify opportunities to help educate the public about archaeology, what we do, and why
- Reaching out to partner organizations about speakers and events
- Contacting members for input and insights
- Looking for new partner opportunities
