information for authors

how to publish in archaeology in washington
Archaeology in Washington (AiW) is a peer-reviewed journal published by historic preservation professionals with an interest in Washington State.  AiW welcomes submissions of scholarly papers from professionals in archaeology, historic preservation, and related fields who are working in Washington or the surrounding areas.  Potential authors are encouraged to contact the current Editor of AiW to discuss ideas for manuscripts, as well as current publication timelines.

Completed manuscripts should be formatted as a Microsoft Word or Rich Text Format document and submitted via email to the current Editor, Dr. Amanda Taylor.  Submitted manuscripts should follow style guidelines set forth by the Society for American Archaeology.  These style guidelines encompass all aspects of manuscripts, including titles, headers, abstracts, text, figures, and references.  Once submitted to the Editor, all manuscripts will undergo a process of double-blind peer review and editing before acceptance for publication.

Manuscripts submitted to AiW must stem from work performed fully in compliance with all relevant federal and state preservation laws, and any information contained in submitted manuscripts must safeguard the specific location(s) of archaeological and/or historic resources as per RCW 42.56.300.
